Charity Spotlight: Child Funeral Charity

Child Funeral Charity is a registered charity based in Northamptonshire dedicated to supporting the families of those arranging a funeral for a baby or child (under 16) across England and Wales. The financial pressures and emotional stress borne by those having to undertake this difficult task are immense, and Child Funeral Charity provide support to all, and help towards the costs of the funeral for those who may not be able to pay for the funeral themselves.

Applying for Help
Individuals cannot apply directly to the Child Funeral Charity but they can be referred by professionals who know the family and their personal situation.

Professionals eligible to apply on behalf of a family include Funeral Directors, GPs, Hospice Managers, Celebrant/faith representatives and Hospital Medical Registrars.

How will Child Funeral Charity Help?

Child Funeral Charity will look to help families in several ways:

  • Emotional support
  • Practical help and guidance
  • Help towards funeral costs including:
  1. Funeral Director costs
  2. Coffin/casket
  3. Transport vehicle
  4. Floral tributes
  5. Printed Order of Service sheets
  6. Memorial Plaques
  7. Cremation fees/Internment fees
  8. Other associated funeral costs

The only costs that the Child Funeral Charity will not consider are:

  • Burial plots
  • Transport (other than a hearse or hearsette)
  • Horse drawn carriages
  • Balloons
  • Doves
  • Headstones
  • Food and drink for a wake
